Why
do American students do poorly on international
math and science examinations?
It
may be because we aren't teaching them literature,
history, and the arts.
Common
Core's new report, Why We're Behind: What
Top Nations Teach Their Students But We Don't, excerpts national curricula, standards, and assessments from nine nations that consistently outrank us on international comparison tests. What stands out? Students in these nations receive a full diet in the liberal arts and sciences. Meanwhile our focus has narrowed to basic reading and math in recent years. Join us to learn what these models can teach us about fixing education in America.
Light
refreshments will be provided. We thank the Bodman
Foundation for their support of Why We're Behind.
